Everything I Never Told You

Two wrongs do not make a right. When life flings a monkey wrench in the smooth functioning of our fate, we tend to take the wrong decision, make moves as a result of our impulsive thinking and often find ourselves trapped in the pool of remorse and sorrow. Everything I Never Told You is a story that portrays the protagonist’s dilemma of not taking a stand for his choices once and thereby facing a similar situation years later.

Roshan is a genial and amicable man who tries his best to fit into the jigsaw of life. His son, Anuj, is the only bridge between him and his deceased wife. But when Roshan’s ex-love walks straight into his life asking him to give their love a second chance, Roshan is left in a quandary, for Anuj is clear about one thing and that is about not accepting a step-mother. Revolving around the themes of religious barriers in love, parental pressure and expectations and the importance of clear communication, Everything I Never Told You is an old story presented in a new book.

Roshan and Soha have good chemistry but Manisha’s character remains unexplored. Several questions are left unanswered and they get buried deep within the hearts as the story progresses. Anuj’s plight is understandable yet Roshan is the character that evokes sympathy. The best things about Ajay Pandey’s books are the simplicity of the narrative and the purpose-driven plot. The dialogues are taut and no words are spent in unnecessary descriptions. I liked that. But there were several grammatical errors that, I think, might have been there owing to an oversight.

Overall, this book is nice but not refreshing. If you want to try something easy and fluid, give it a try.

Best wishes to the author!
