Book Review: Momsie Popsie Diary by Juju’s Pearls

Momsie Popsie Diary
Author: Juju’s Pearls
Publisher: Notion Press
Rating: 3/5

In our fast and fleeting lives, we often lose out on the essential lessons that we learn on a daily basis. Hence, it has been rightly said that the blind can see more than the visually abled can see, for the latter are distracted by the abundance of choices they have! In ‘Momsie Popsie Diary’ we get the amalgamated flavours of nostalgia, longing, reminiscence of the good, old days and a feeling of hope and encouragement!

This book is not a diary, for it comprises mostly of the anecdotes from the life of the author. She rightly calls herself as Juju’s Pearls because what she shares are pure pearls and each pearl is a storehouse of wisdom and love. Placing some hand-written notes by her late mother, the author has divided this book into several short chapters that are more like the daily conversations that left an indelible impact on her heart and soul. It is a very well-known truth that every child, however far he/she stays, remains attached to his/her parents. Hence, when I was reading these parts, I realized how ignorant I had been to what my parents had advised or suggested to me. Call it my lack of interest or blame it on the time constraint, I have always found unsolicited advise annoying but when it comes from your own parents, it is something to brood over.

Momsie Popsie Diary is a nice ‘tea-time’ read as the author calls it. It is short and quite overwhelming. I just wish the name were different but that cannot be a point to deduct the rating, for the author would have thought a lot before keeping this name. What I would cut points for is the size and layout of the book because that turned me off. There are small grammatical errors here and there and another round of proofreading would help rectify them.

Best wishes to the author!
