The Rise of the Dragon is that sort of relic that gives a peek into the Targaryen Dynasty through colours and beautiful pictures.

The Targaryen dynasty is a fictional family from George R.R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” series. Originating from the ancient civilization of Valyria, the Targaryens were dragonlords who survived the cataclysmic Doom of Valyria and settled on the island of Dragonstone.

Around 300 years before the events of the series, Aegon Targaryen and his sister-wives, Visenya and Rhaenys, launched a conquest of Westeros. Riding their dragons, they brought six independent kingdoms under their rule, establishing the Seven Kingdoms. Aegon became the first Targaryen king of Westeros, ruling from the newly built capital of King’s Landing.

The Targaryens ruled Westeros for nearly three centuries. Both wise and tyrannical rulers marked their reigns. Notable Targaryen monarchs included Aegon the Conqueror, who forged the realm; Jaehaerys the Conciliator, known for his reforms; and Aegon the Unlikely, who improved the lives of the smallfolk.

Dragons were a key element of Targaryen’s power. The family possessed and rode dragons, using them in warfare and as symbols of their rule. However, the dragons gradually died out until only a few remained. Aegon III’s reign marked the extinction of dragons.

In summary, the Targaryen dynasty began with the conquest of Westeros, ruled for three centuries, and ended in civil war and rebellion. Their possession of dragons and complex family dynamics shaped the history of Westeros, leaving a lasting impact on the world Martin created.
