The Making of the Greatest Bill Gates
Author: Ajay Sethi
Publisher: Rupa Publishers
Rating: 3 /5

When I first read this ‘I choose a lazy person to do a hard job. Because a lazy person will find an easy way to do it’, I couldn’t fathom the perspective of Gates; I was awestruck. Bill Gates is one such person who is known for the extreme sides of his behaviour. On one hand he is a complete workaholic and an eccentric individual who aims for an inch-perfect outcome for everything and on the other hand, he is the most astute individual we know. Even though his methods of getting work done might not be appreciated by all, it is because of those methods that he is the man he is today!

Bill Gates by Ajay Sethi is a brief story about Gates’ life. I say brief because to encompass a life as great as this, 120 pages are not enough. Nevertheless, for the ones who don’t know about Gates and would like to read about him in a short span of time, this is the book. The only drawback in this book is limited content. The information provided is easily available in the public domain and thus, the majority of the technology enthusiasts will already be aware of these details. The author, however, scores on the part where he draws out the learning from Gates’ life. Known to be the greatest philanthropist, Bill Gates definitely sets an example for the youngsters. He is living proof that money does not make one blind. Simplicity, charity and selflessness are the three principles of success. When opportunities are up for grabs, Gates teaches us to grab them by their horns and make full use of our potential. At the same time, we should not forget to give back to the society that has contributed in making us great. Gates contributed to society by providing us all with cutting-edge technology. We all can make a difference. We just need to view life from a different glass and then become a change-maker.

Overall, Bill Gates by Ajay Sethi is an interesting and quick read.

Best wishes to the author!
