Book Review: Dreams Beyond Shadows by Kartikeya Ladha

Dreams Beyond Shadows
Author: Kartikeya Ladha
Publisher: White Falcon Publishing
Rating: 3/5

Personal anecdotes have an entirely different influence on the readers because of the connection such notes can establish and the empathy that they can evoke. I can imagine the kind of pleasure the author of Dreams Beyond Shadows would have felt upon penning down the details about his adventures across the unchartered territories! With a fascinating and bright cover, Dreams Beyond Shadows is a first-hand account of the author’s quest to break free from the shackles of the past and explore all avenues that invited him with open arms.

Backed by sufficient monochrome pictures and freehand illustrations, the narrative has been presented in form of a travelogue. Loquacious and drab at times, the plot fails to hit the right chord in many instances when the author doesn’t stop to take a break from the philosophical insights. The amalgamation of travel stories and life lessons make the reading ambiguous at times because the readers might be left wondering what’s the exact purpose of the book. However, there are some parts which are sure to resonate with the readers, for every person dreams of living a life free from the worries of the past and anxiety of the future. Often most of us get so consumed in work that we forget that we need to come out of our busy lives to live the short life that we have. Hence, it becomes imperative to get fired up to work in that direction of self-love and self-devotion. This book does just that. It will fire up your will to live rather than to just survive.

Overall, Dreams Beyond Shadows houses an interesting concept. But it is too lengthy and elaborate. I feel it could have been a little shorter.

Best wishes to the author!
