Book Review: Gurgaon to Gurugram by Suptendu Biswas

Gurgaon to Gurugram
Author: Suptendu P. Biswas
Publisher: Rupa Publishers
Rating: 3.5/5

Most of us have either a direct or an indirect connection with the Cyber City of India, Gurugram. It is one of the fastest developing cities that houses youngsters who land in this place with the dream of giving their ambition wings! In Gurgaon to Gurugram, the author traces the city’s journey from its inception to its rise to glory!

Gurgaon, which was once a city where people dreamt of owning land and building beautiful houses, has now transformed into a city that now has connections with the world. The author deftly includes the name of several landmarks that defined this Cyber City in earlier days like the Gateway Tower, the Sushant Lok Area, HUDA sectors, etc. With the gradual inclination towards renaming the cities based on their origin and association with the mythology, Gurgaon, too, has acquired a new name now. Whether or not this new name will favour this developing city- only time will tell.

Simple and quite interesting, Gurgaon to Gurugram is a delight to read. It is fascinating to know so many facts about this city. Since I have often travelled to my relatives’ place when young, I do remember some of these buildings and reading about the changes that have transpired in this city over a span of two decades is entertaining. Overall, this is a light read and must be given a try if you are interested in reading about this city.

Best wishes to the author!
