Book Review: The Final Twist by Jeffery Deaver

The Final Twist
Author
: Jeffery Deaver
Publisher: Harper Collins Publishers
Rating: 4/5

I am an ardent fan of thrillers and that’s why the arrival of The Final Twist couldn’t stop me from getting my hands on the previous two books in the same series. Shaw does a wonderful job in keeping the stakes high and presenting the readers with a lofty viewpoint. The final book in the series provides a truckload of red herrings that are so misleading that the readers might be close but left with no cigar!

The Final Twist follows Shaw’s quest to bring justice to his deceased father. After finding the evidence, Shaw discovers that his father had been on the mission to bring out the truth about BlackBridge Corporate Solutions. In the process of unearthing the layers that remain buried under the facade of truth and lies, Shaw gets lucky when he finds an ally from the past. His estranged brother, Russel Shaw, marks his entry and decides to help Shaw solve the mystery.

Jeffery has a good understanding of the genre because he uses time constraints deftly. While Shaw works against the clock, the author doesn’t leave out any stone unturned in reminding the readers that the stakes of the protagonist’s world are quite high. Throwing lose-lose situations, baffling dilemmas and unprecedented scenarios before Shaw, the author keeps the tone varied and makes the reading all the more interesting. What I didn’t like was the fact that verbose and loquacious narratives often marred the flow. Long paragraphs describing the evidence and the thought process that went behind the discovery are boring to read. Other than that, the plot is so strong that it can definitely make it difficult for the readers to tear themselves away.

Overall, The Final Twist is a gripping thriller that is sure to entice your reading buds. Yet, it needs patience to be devoured. Also, the reading can be enhanced by picking up the first two books! Go for this one!

Best wishes to the author!
